so today president obama going to use his bully pulpit. he's going to meet with labor leaders and ceos and he's going to make the case to them that immigration reform is good for the economy. here's a look at who he's going to be meeting with in terms of the labor leaders. richard trumka of the afl-cio, eliseo medina, lloyd blankfein, and arnie sorenson, among others. so those are just a few of the folks with whom he will be meeting this afternoon. of course, time is of the essence, thomas. the president believes he has about a year, year and a half, to really make movements on some of these other policy issues, like gun control, like immigration reform. as you know, he was in minnesota yet, pressing for new gun safety measures. so i think this is a tactic you're going to see this white house continue with over the next several weeks. >> when you say time is of the essence, because of 2014, the midterms coming up. and when we talk about time, we know we have just a week to go until the state of the union address. but we're also learning th

there are two great parents in washington, michelle and barack obama, they chose the best school for their daughters. republicans think every parent should have that right doesn't matter what your last name is or where you came from, why shouldn't parents be able to choose the best school for their kids. that would transform our educational system. that's a new idea. but it's an idea that is consistent with who we are as republicans and what we believe. we had a ton of failure in education from the old top down political approach that the democrats advanced. let's try something different. >> maria, i want your perspective. we have to show chris christie on letterman. he's a new kind of republican. he can talk to the working person, and they believe him. one of the reasons that people embrace chris christie in new jersey is because he has a sense of humor. so let's take a look at him on letterman last night. >> i made jokes about you, not just one or two, not just ongoing here and there, intermittent. but -- >> i didn't know this was going to be this long. >> maria, i'm not suggesting

i support what the obama administration is doing here. but it gs to show just how difficult, how messy and for when the bush administration would make the point those senior leaders would say, it's difficult for, perhaps, some to understand what we're dealing with when we talk about this level. all natural security decisions are serious. but when we are talking about this kind of threat, we have to make at times very messy and sometimes uncomfortable and sometimes questionable decisions. so i think my point is democrats seem to now think back about how they conducted themselves and the questions they raised about bush administration tactics. i didn't raise those questions as aggressively as some of my friends did, but it's important everyone take a step back and a breather here, particularly democrats. >>> new details on the endearing political relationship between dwight eisenhower and richard nixon. >> that was a straight one, those two. >> yes. our next guest explores the two iconic leaders. >>> also, in the aftermath of the great rece
